We usually don’t realise how easily we consume lots and lots of calories just by having sauces.

This doesn’t mean we should stop having them.

This only means that we should be mindful of the amount of sauces we are having and try and make better choices.

If you have 4 teaspoons of ketchup, you’ll end up having 68 calories. Rather than having 4 teaspoons, try and have 2, and automatically you will half the number of calories consumed.

Some examples are below.

  • BBQ sauce: 14 calories (1 teaspoon)
  • Brown Sauce: 17 calories (1 teaspoon)
  • Chilli Sauce: 16 calories (1 teaspoon)
  • Ketchup: 17 calories (1 teaspoon)
  • Mayonnaise: 104 calories (1 teaspoon)
  • Mustard sauce: 7 calories (1 teaspoon)
  • Salad Cream: 52 calories (1 teaspoon)

Just to give an example a wider choice will be salad cream rather than the mayonnaise.

Don’t stop eating ; make better choices.
